• Ridge ventilators shall be High Capacity Continuous open type, incorporating one-piece guiding vane as manufactured by Air Roof Ventilators, of the sizes shown on drawings (or state size) Ventilators shall be weather-tight and stormproof under all positive operating conditions, and will be capable of withstanding a wind loading of 180 KM/Hr.
• They will be provided with such drains as are required to ensure that they are self-cleaning by the elements, so that rain and wind borne matter are removed from the ventilators Wind jump diaphragms shall be fitted no more than 2400 mm apart.
• Free exhaust area of ventilators shall be at least equal to stack opening, and at no point shall total air path through ventilator be less than ventilator size shown.
• Ridge ventilators from 610 mm to 1525 mm throat are to be manufactured from solid galvanised steel plate diaphragms with angled base frames fitted at nominal.
• 2400 mm centres. From 1830 mm to 3660 mm all structural sections will be in steel angle, all hot dip galvanised after fabrication. All diaphragms shall be provided at nominal 2400 mm centres. Sheeting to the wind band shall be 0.53 mm Custom Orb or similar. All other flashing 0.55 mm to 0.70 mm.
• All metal components shall be mill finish/ painted finish in standard Color bond / colour coated protective coating in selected colour. Neoprene separation strips shall be provided at all points where there is possible contact between dissimilar metals. Bird screens of welded mesh with 12.5 mm x 125 mm openings shall /shall not be fitted.

• Systems using natural ventilation should be designed for effective ventilation regardless of wind direction. There must be adequate ventilation when the wind does not come from the prevailing direction.
• Inlet openings should not be obstructed by buildings, trees, signboards, or indoor partitions.
• Greatest flow per unit area of total opening is obtained by using inlet and outlet openings of nearly equal areas. If there is a difference in size, the lower opening should be slightly larger.
• Two openings on opposite sides of a space will tend to increase the ventilation flow. If the openings are at the same level and near the ceiling, much of the flow may bypass the occupied level and be ineffective in diluting Contaminant’s at the occupied level.
• There must be vertical distance between openings for temperature difference to produce natural ventilation the greater the vertical distance, the greater the ventilation.
